Berg Bay, AK

Berg Bay is a scenic anchorage, made difficult due to poor holding. We’ve had the anchor drag through what feels like very soft mud or gravel for considerable distance and never had it set. If you can get a satisfactory set, this is a beautiful spot, with a dramatic view of Devil’s Thumb. Space is limited, and the bay can be choked with commercial crab traps in season.

A US Forest Service cabin and float are at the head of the bay. The float is reserved for visitors who rent the cabin. A short trail leads from the cabin to a nearby bay.
