Tahsis, BC – Westview Marina
Westview Marina is a hive of activity in an otherwise very sleepy town. The marina is well run, with fuel, plenty of fresh water, laundry, showers, and a good restaurant. After several weeks of cruising in the wilderness, it’s a welcome sight.
WiFi is included with nightly moorage, but don’t expect high speeds or service on your boat. As of 2019, there’s no cell service, although that may be changing in the near future.
Although the marina caters mostly to small sport fishing boats, they welcome cruisers. Reservations are encouraged, particularly if you want to plug into power.
The store at the marina stocks fishing and boat supplies but very little food. A courtesy car is available to drive into town to a larger store that also carries some liquor. Don’t expect a supermarket or a lot of fresh produce. The Tahsis Building Center, a hardware store that can fill propane tanks, is a few blocks from the grocery store.

Slowboat Tips and Activities
Wind often builds significantly throughout the day. The fairways are narrow and the entrance between log breakwaters can be difficult to spot.
Tahsis is a former mill town whose population has dwindled from 2500 to about 500. More information here: http://villageoftahsis.com/recreation-culture-community/history/
