A nice leisurely morning at Campbell River! We slept in a bit, and left the dock by 8:30am. Slack at Seymour Narrows was 9:54am, and we had a little current against us until then, and not a bad cruise at all up to Kanish Bay/Small Inlet. Blenkinsop Bay was calm and beautiful this morning. A tiny bit of fog laying low on the water, but clear besides that. Unfortunately, our timing wasn’t great for the current in Johnstone, and we had as much as 3.8kts against us in some places. Today was another long day — from Tribune Bay north to Kanish Bay (58nm). The only tricky part was that we needed to time our departure from Tribune Bay to we would arrive 6.5 hours later for slack at Seymour Narrows, which today was 3:46pm. Today was all about timing our arrival at Seymour Narrows. Seymour Narrows is one of the fastest flowing tidal rapids in the world, with current that can exceed 16 knots, so we definitely don’t want to cruise through at the wrong time.
