Day 25 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Exchange Cove to Petersburg

Exchange Cove this morning was stunning in the fog! Kali left earliest to hit Petersburg at slack, and Sara sent me this fantastic shot she got at 4:30am:

Then a bit later when the rest of us were up (6ish) I got some more great shots from DeAnne on Turnagain:

Dave taking Bodhi to shore for an early morning shore visit:

Airship in the fog at Exchange Cove
Sound Waves anchored at Exchange Cove
Dave and Bodhi return

I took a few shots of Turnagain and Sound Waves (IF is still buried back there in the fog):

By the time we were pulling anchor, the fog looked like it was starting to lift.

DeAnne took this one of Airship heading out

But we pretty quickly found ourselves back in the fog for a good part of the way toward Wrangell Narrows. Kali reported ahead that fog was off and on through the narrows, but that it cleared finally about 12nm from Petersburg. Luckily for us, by the time we got there, the fog was completely gone. We probably had the least amount of traffic through Wrangell Narrows ever, which was great, but what was even nicer is that we got this spectacular view that we love as we turned the last corner into Petersburg.

Two of the boats are in the North Harbor and three of us are in South Harbor. Here’s Airship trying to blend in with the fishing boats (far right):

We walked up to pay the harbormaster, and then into town to stretch our legs and get a few more things from the store (extra produce) as we’ll be about ten days between here and Sitka with no groceries.

This little tiny library we walked past had a really cute Norwegian-style paint job (and a good selection of books inside).

After a nice relaxing afternoon, we walked back into town with Dave and DeAnne for some dinner…a nice meal at Inga’s Galley. Kevin and I shared spot prawn tacos and halibut tacos…both delicious.

Tomorrow calls for more sun, and forecast says it will be even warmer than today. We’ll take it while we can get it!
