We enjoyed our last day in Ford’s Terror (where we never saw any bears at all for the first time ever), retrieved our prawn traps for the last bunch of coon stripe shrimp, and then started making our way out to the entrance (exit) around 5pm to arrive between 5:30-5:45pm. Juneau high slack was 5:15pm, so this should work out perfectly.
We exited Ford’s Terror with very little current, no other boats coming in, and very little ice to contend with. A beautiful evening cruise to Tracy Arm Cove!
The cruise ship Norwegian Jewel hailed us on the radio to let us know his intended course and I told him we’d stay out of his way. He said he’d seen we were all the way up in Ford’s Terror and asked how it was in there. (Amazing, as always.) I asked if they got far enough up Endicott to see the glacier, and he said there was too much ice for them to see Dawes from the ship, but that their smaller tenders got up there to see the face of the glacier. We wished each other a good evening and a nice cruise.
We arrived at Tracy Arm Cove around 8:45pm and enjoyed a nice quiet evening with a gorgeous view.
In the morning, we’ll all be heading to Juneau. We have reservations at a nice restaurant for our last group dinner on Saturday night — a great way to celebrate a successful flotilla!
