Day 10 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Kwakume Inlet to Codville Lagoon

A nice leisurely morning in Kwakume Inlet! We didn’t pull our anchor until the civilized hour of 9am!

Before we pulled our anchor though, we pulled our crab traps and had one very large male Dungeness. Score!

Rawr!
Airship cruising slowly out of Kwakume Inlet on the way to Codville this morning

Once we were all anchored in Codville Lagoon, we dropped the dinghies and met on shore for the hike up to Sagar Lake.

Dingies at the trailhead
DeAnne took this great shot of Ron and Jean from Sound Waves on the trail to Sagar Lake.
We spotted one of the tiny green toads alongside the trail…
…and then a little reddish brown one!

DeAnne and I had fun calling Bodie to run to us, then Dave would call him to run all the way back, and repeat. Hoping to tire Bodhi out a bit! So much energy!

The sun is out now and we’re all doing dinner on our own…tomorrow we will reprovision in Shearwater, so people are eating up the last of the fresh things they have tonight.

IF, anchored at Codville Lagoon

Ralph and Jeanette on Kali headed into Shearwater a day early to pick up a part to fix their heater (it’s now fixed) and did some scouting for us. Looks like the pickings are once again slim at the Shearwater market, so we’ll all probably either dinghy or water taxi across to Bella Bella tomorrow (to the larger market, and to see Bella Bella…it’s been a few years).

Here’s a photo of the main produce area at the market in Shearwater, sent by our intel scouts, Ralph and Jeanette:

Lots of green peppers, cauliflower, cabbage, maybe some honeydew…we’ll just wing it!

On Airship tonight we’re making some crab risotto with our fresh crab and adding in the last of our fresh spinach.

Kevin took the drone up and got this nice shot of our anchorage:
