Days 20-21 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Ketchikan

Monday morning in Ketchikan started out very windy and very rainy!

Dull and dreary in Bar Harbor
Kali looking good among the working boats

Early in the afternoon the sun came out, and we even had some blue sky! We decided to pull our little wagon up to the market while the weather was pleasant and we got all of our shopping/reprovisioning taken care of.

On Tuesday morning we hitched a ride with Dave and DeAnne (and Bodhi) up to Totem Bight State Park and went for a nice walk among the trees and totems.

I love the little entrance to the longhouse here:

Inside the restoration shed, there were a few pieces from various totems…this bird was missing from the Kadjuk Bird Pole outside, but here he was maybe having a spa day:

After Totem Bight we walked around Creek Street with the other tourists:

We got crepes for late breakfast/early lunch at Alaska Crepe Co. and they were SO good. I had a smoked salmon crepe with spinach, goat cheese and dill, Kevin had a southwest breakfast crepe, and DeAnne had a Monte Cristo crepe…they were all super good.

Ralph’s wife Jeanette flew home yesterday, and his daughter Sara and her husband David joined him on Kali for the next leg. They’ve been with us before, and it’s great to see them again! Tonight we all met for a group dinner at Bush Pilots’ Lounge. This the first time we’ve been, and won’t be our last. Food was delicious, service was great, and the vibe all around was perfect.

Right inside the door they’ve got a relief map of SE Alaska…fun to trace the route we’re starting from Ketchikan…

Halibut ceviche, caesar salads, wedge salads for starters, and entrees were pistachio crusted halibut, elk Wellington, black cod curry, wagyu ribeye…check out the menu here. Definitely one of our new favorite spots.

Great license plate as we passed the Safeway market parking lot

Tomorrow we’ll head out early…and across Clarence Strait to Kasaan!
