Once again, everyone wants to know what time Airship is going to leave, so we say 6am, and when we get up at 5:30am, two of the other three boats are long gone and one is pulling its anchor. Fine then. 🙂
Conditions in Stephens Passage were calm and even glassy for our cruise north into Juneau. We watched a humpback breaching to the left of a cruise ship (hope they got to see it!) and then one was lunge-feeding off our port side as we approached Gastineau Channel. I only managed to snap a quick shot at the end.
There were four cruise ships already docked/anchored in Juneau when we arrived, and one more on its way in to the south of us.
We called the harbormaster when we were near the Douglas Bridge and got a spot in Harris Harbor without power for now…something else might open up and he said to call mid-morning tomorrow. The weather is sunny, blue skies with puffy clouds, and we’ll spend the afternoon cleaning up the boat, doing some chores, and just generally relaxing a bit. Dinner out with the group is tomorrow night and we’ll be spending a few days here in Juneau seeing friends and visiting family before heading off again to who knows where.
This year’s flotilla has been a wonderful adventure with a fantastic group of boaters, amazing scenery, exciting excursions to remote locations only visited by few, lots of good food and conversation, and a TON of photos.
