Day 17 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Baker Inlet to Prince Rupert

We woke to a gorgeous, peaceful morning in Baker Inlet. Zero wind, glassy water, and blue sky! I went out on the deck to take photos of the other boats.

DeAnne on Turnagain reciprocated and sent us this one!

There was some great color lining the walls of Watts Passage as we transited at low tide…fun to see all the anemones all closed up and waiting for water.

We emerged into Grenville Channel, where the water was almost as flat as inside Baker Inlet!

Ralph and Jeanette crossed Dixon Entrance today in wonderful conditions, and will stop at Pond Inlet on the north side of Duke Island (for something different, and to get a little closer to Ketchikan). The rest of us will head into Prince Rupert…we made a reservation at the Prince Rupert Rowing and Yacht Club, where from AIS looked like the two (rude) boats from Khutze and Lowe were also docked today. Dang, we were hoping not to run into them again and that they’d headed for Dixon already, but I found a live webcam feed from PRRYC and yep, they’re still there.

However, about two hours afterwards, when we looked again, they were gone. Not a huge deal, but it’s a small marina and could feel pretty awkward after such a bad experience. Glad they’re gone!

We slowed up on the way into Prince Rupert Harbour for this giant container ship and three tugs that met up with it on its way in. Super fun to watch!

It’s been a few years since we stayed at the Prince Rupert Rowing & Yacht Club…we’re so glad we did this year. The service and the people are exceptional! Kevin the Harbourmaster is wonderful and full of great information (and great stories) and we had a super nice visit. Will for sure be back, and highly recommend staying here. Even if you love Cow Bay Marina (hi Robin!) maybe alternate occasionally! 🙂

People did some boat chores, shopped a little bit, and legs were stretched on shore, before taking a walk down the waterfront to have dinner together at Wheelhouse Brewing Company.

SeaFest is this weekend, and from what we can tell it’s going to be a blast. I kinda wish we had a couple more days here to check it out, but Alaska is calling! Early morning tomorrow, and on to Foggy Bay!
