Day 28 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Scenery Cove to Pybus Bay

We left Scenery Cove around 6am for the 50nm cruise up to Pybus Bay. Water was flat calm and the scenery was majestic.

Kevin put the 360 Cam down at the bow and got some killer footage of the porpoises…he wins:

We spotted a handful of humpback spouts ahead between Pybus Bay and the Brothers Islands, and Carrie on IF got some nice shots of a mama and a calf.

Love when you can see the texture of the whale’s skin

On the way into Pybus Bay I snapped a quick pic of the usual giant raft of sea otters hanging out:

So many otters!

We all anchored in Cannery Cove before 2pm. Nice to leave early on a long day so there’s still time to enjoy the next anchorage.

Turnagain, Kali, and Sound Waves. If’s still on their way in from their whale-watching extravaganza

Kevin put out some crab pots and then went out to see about a halibut (tldr: one crab, no halibut). It wasn’t raining this afternoon so all the toys came out: paddleboards, kayaks, dinghies, and everyone seemed to have a nice easy afternoon. Didn’t spot any bears…just three Sitka black-tailed deer on shore.

Dinner on our own tonight, and up again early tomorrow for a long day down to Explorer Basin on Kuiu Island!
