We pulled out of Hanus Bay late yesterday morning and headed east in Peril Strait, spotting this one humpback along the shore as we cruised past.
Chatham Strait was just the slightest bit choppy in about 15kts of wind on the nose, but a beautiful cruise down to Takatz Bay.
It started raining soon after we arrived, and when it stopped (for a minute) we got out in the dinghy and headed upriver to see if there were any bears. The slow salmon getting ready to spawn were plentiful at the head of the bay, so we figured our chances for bears was good.
There was one, but the second it saw us it went back into the bushes, so just got this quick shot.

The seagulls sat real still for my photos, unlike the scaredy bear.
The color of the water here is so stunning!
Dave and Kyle were out in their kayaks when we got back to the raft, so we passed on our bear sighting info in case it decided to come back out by the time they paddled up there.

We had two crabs and some small shrimp (and one avocado left!), so I made seafood flautas for dinner!
We enjoyed a quiet morning aboard, sipping coffee, watching bears, and listening to the waterfalls.
The sun is trying to break through the clouds this morning…let’s wish it luck!
