Day 35 | Flotilla to Alaska | Sitka to Appleton Cove

Normally we would not stop at the same place on the way back through Peril Strait, but the timing of Sergius Narrows on the way in caused us to change our plan and we’ll be visiting Appleton twice. (Maybe that will convert to more crab! )

We arrived at Sergius Narrows an hour early and had about 4kts of current helping us through.

The commercial crab season opened two days ago, which meant Appleton was now blanketed with crab pots, but we all managed to find good spots (and several other boats came in and did as well, so it wasn’t as bad as it seemed at first!

The wind had picked up by the time we arrived (not another noisy night at anchor in Appleton please), but died down last night for a very pleasant evening.

We gathered on Airship for a loose “Appetizers for Dinner” theme: curried chicken choux puffs, pulled pork sliders with Hawaiian chips, pasta salad with broccolini and cherry tomatoes, fresh crab sliders, salami, olives, cheese (with delicious chocolate chunk cookies for dessert, not pictured).

Another fun evening with this great group!
