Day 39 | 2025 Flotilla to Alaska | Pavlof Harbor

We opted to stay in Pavlof Harbor for another day because…bears. It was so nice to sleep in and have a little down time this morning. We motored up to the waterfall and fish ladder to look for bears, but no bears, and just a couple of fish spotted up there. We’re still a little early here, but it should just be a matter of days before the fish are jumping and the bears are fishing.

People took advantage of the down day by relaxing onboard and exploring the neighboring coves by kayak and dinghy. Carrie sent these shots of Wachusett Cove. The rock formations around here are always fun to explore.

Jean and Ron spent some time with our fluffy bear from yesterday over in Wachusett Cove later on in the afternoon, but other than that we didn’t spot any more bears today.

Got a nice shot of this little kingfisher though!

Andrea made flotilla bingo cards for everyone and we passed those out with the plan tonight. Rules are you get two retroactive animals of your choice. Fun!

We cooked the halibut that Kevin and Andrea caught for tonight’s dinner, and will do something with the fresh crab tomorrow night.

This is still one of my favorite recipes for halibut. I did the tomato part of things in the oven, and Kevin grilled the halibut perfectly!
