We left Rescue Bay around 8am this morning…another sunny day with clear blue sky! Feeling pretty lucky the past few days with the weather. Today’s 8am departure saw us through Jackson Narrows about an hour after low tide, so still nice and skinny (for the fun) but plenty of depth under our keels. Our plan this morning was to leave Shearwater between 8:30am-9am. We were hopeful that the fuel barge had come during the night…Shearwater was out of diesel when we arrived! Ranger Tug IF really wanted to top off here so they didn’t have to stop and hope to get fuel at Klemtu or Hartley Bay, where unanswered calls to the fuel docks couldn’t verify availability. We had a nice calm evening in Codville Lagoon last night, and this morning we left the anchorage by about 8am and headed for Shearwater. Couple of shots of the moonrise last night (not bad from an iPhone!) Entering Fisher Channel on a gorgeous, clear and sunny day! A nice leisurely morning in Kwakume Inlet! We didn’t pull our anchor until the civilized hour of 9am! Before we pulled our anchor though, we pulled our crab traps and had one very large male Dungeness. Score! This morning’s forecast for our rounding of Cape Caution looked the same as we were expecting. Pine Island and Egg Island both reporting two foot chop and very little wind. Environment Canada for Central Coast from McInnes Island to Pine Island forecasting wind west 5-15kts, seas 1 meter. West Sea Otter buoy reporting 1.3 meters at 11.1 seconds, so a fairly gentle swell, with little to no wind waves. Off … Read more
We headed out early again this morning to get through Queen Charlotte Strait before the forecast wind increase in the afternoon. Everyone pulled out of the Mound Island anchorage at six, for what turned out to be a very pleasant cruise.
