Yesterday we took a day trip up Tracy Arm to see some glaciers. The weather was perfect, and there was very little ice in the water. It’s about 25 miles up Tracy Arm to South Sawyer Glacier, and we were able to go our full cruise speed all the way to South Sawyer Glacier, which mostly never happens! This post is mostly photos, for reasons that will become obvious.
Seals have their pups back near the glaciers to keep away from predators, and we saw so many of them this visit!
We drifted around at South Sawyer for a while and took some photos. It will be interesting to compare these with past years.
Kevin took the drone up for some aerials:
In the show below, there are three sets of seal mamas and pups on the large iceberg in the foreground.
Next, we headed back over to North Sawyer Glacier, which we usually can get to even if we can’t see South Sawyer.
There was no ice floating in the north arm at all!
Kevin took some more aerial photos, this time flying over top of the glacier. Love these shots!
What an awesome excursion! We cruised back to Tracy Arm Cove for another night.
