Airship | Kalinin Bay, Sitka, Leesoffskaia Bay

Thursday July 4: We cruised about 25nm down the outside of Chichagof Island to Kalinin Bay for what we thought would be two nights, but we changed our minds after some very slow fishing out in Salisbury Sound. The sun came out though, and it was a gorgeous day.

Anchored in Kalinin Bay (Fortunate on the left, Melissa Lynn far right)

On Friday we went into Sitka for one night to get groceries (produce!), go out to dinner (white king at the Channel Club!) and watch fireworks over the harbor (11:30 on Friday the 5th this year…we were asleep, but woke up and watched from the pilothouse).

In Olga Strait on our way into Sitka we had to stop for a deer crossing/swimming:

On Saturday morning, we headed out for a night or two in Leesoffskaia Bay. We haven’t been in here in ages…maybe since 2015. It’s beautiful and quiet and we’re all tucked in at the head of the bay, anchored in about 20 feet.

Kevin got some nice aerials:

Throwing a line over the side of Airship at anchor occasionally produces some fun:

Ambitious little sculpin!

We’ll all get together for dinner tonight (taco night on Melissa Lynn!) and then tomorrow we plan to head over to Redoubt Bay to meet back up with Dan and Eileen on Fortunate.
