Announcing the 2025 Slowboat Flotilla to Alaska

Inside Passage, San Juan Islands to SE Alaska
Prevost Harbor WA to Juneau AK | ~6 weeks | late May to mid July 2025

NOTE 8/22/24: We have accepted “hold my spot” deposits for all openings on the 2025 flotilla and have several people already on the waitlist. Things almost always change, so let us know if you’d like us to add you to the waitlist!

Glaciers. Icebergs. Whales. Bears. Cruising to Alaska is all about incomparable nature right in front of your eyes. It’s about not just seeing the world, but experiencing it. In 2025 we are again doing an extended six-week trip, exploring coastal British Columbia with an extended tour of the highlights of SE Alaska.

Bring your boat and your spirit of adventure and cruise with the Slowboat team on a trip of a lifetime exploring one of the most amazing cruising grounds on earth – up the Inside Passage to SE Alaska.

Six weeks on the Inside Passage! We’ll visit sandy beaches, dramatic fjords, pristine wilderness anchorages, tidewater glaciers, and more!

Taku Harbor, AK

Every day gets better! As we travel north, structures on shore vanish, boat traffic diminishes, topography grows steeper and taller, and wildlife encounters become more frequent. We’ll visit highlights along the entire route, from the quaint town of Ganges the first night to majestic Ford’s Terror at the end. Along the way you’ll become an expert at operating your boat, navigating the intricacies of the Inside Passage, and finding the hidden gems in coastal BC and SE Alaska.

Warm Springs Bay, AK

We’ll meet in the San Juan Islands the last week of May, and head into Canada the next day, making our way north through British Columbia, around Cape Caution, through the isolated and amazing northern BC coast, and then across Dixon Entrance into Alaska.

Next, we’ll continue north from Ketchikan to Wrangell, Petersburg, and then up to scenic anchorages of Admiralty and Baranoff Island to Sitka.

Finally, we’ll head around the north side of Admiralty to Stephens Passage, exploring the remarkable Tracy and Endicott Arm, and Ford’s Terror, finishing our trip in Juneau in mid July – with plenty of time for you to continue your own Alaskan adventure. We will also help you plan the rest of your summer and your return.

Slowboat flotillas are designed to be inspiring and empowering! Our goal is to visit the best destinations in the area, share our knowledge, and help participants become capable, confident cruisers. We like to have fun too! Most days have ample free time for fishing, kayaking, exploring by dinghy, or hiking on shore.

Downtown Juneau AK

Our itineraries have enough flexibility to take advantage of spur-of-the-moment opportunities or the smoothest weather. We typically gather on the lead boat in the early evening for a brief planning/weather session for the next day’s cruise, and several times per week we extend this into a potluck happy hour or dinner. Throughout the trip, we’re happy to help however we can…whether that means helping you learn to fly a drone or replace a macerator (one is a lot more fun than the other!).

Our primary goals are safety, fun, and education. We want to help you safely navigate and enjoy the Inside Passage and SE Alaska while gaining skills and knowledge that will allow you to return for many years to come.
