Day 13 | Flotilla to Alaska | Khutze Inlet to Lowe Inlet

We were up early and reluctantly left Khutze Inlet. It’s one of our favorite stops on the Inside Passage – stunning beauty, abundant wildlife, vast dinghy exploration opportunities, (and somewhat tricky anchoring).

It was a long run up to Lowe Inlet – the site of a salmon cannery operation from 1890 to the 1930s. Lowe features a cool waterfall fed from Lowe Lake, (which we have previously tried to hike to, but never succeeded in finding the trail). We had the inlet to ourselves, except for one seiner that stopped in briefly, probably making the transit to SE Alaska for the upcoming season.

We explored the shoreline and had fun playing with dinghies in the outflow from the waterfall.

We all had a nice evening aboard, enjoying the good weather while it lasts! Tomorrow: into Prince Rupert!
