Anchors were up this morning by 6am (a few even earlier!) as we started the 52nm cruise around Point Retreat, past Auke Bay/Juneau and Douglas Island and down to Taku Harbor. This might be our last sunny day for a few days so we’ll make sure to soak it up!

Dog Star got their sail up for a while in Lynn Canal.

Here’s True Grit before rounding Point Retreat:

We pulled into Taku Harbor to find a mostly-full dock. Luckily folks were kind enough to make some space for us (and other people there for the weekend left) and we eventually all got settled on the dock.

The new part of the dock (the metal part that connects it to land) is robust and impressive!

Our dinner theme tonight was Taku Tacos on Solstice Sunday (work with us!)…we had carnitas, chicken, lime cilantro rice, seven layer dip, chips, salsa/guac, margaritas, and a pineapple upside down cake for dessert. Everything was great and it was so nice to gather on the dock in the sun for dinner!

We invited Christian, visiting Taku on his very cool Hans Christian pilothouse (shown below) to join us for dinner. He’s lived aboard for 14 years, and it was fun to talk to him and hear about his travels.

Tomorrow we will cruise on down to Tracy Arm Cove to position ourselves to explore the fjords.
