We spent a few days in Sitka soaking up the sights, shopping, walking, going out to dinner, and doing boat chores. We didn’t take many photos here on Airship (sorry), but the days in port are always pretty busy for us. We had a group dinner one night at Mangiare, which was great, and we picked up our friend Andrea who will add some naturalist goodness to this next leg of our trip.
We made our usual stop at Alaska Pure Sea Salt and picked up some more smoked sea salt, some good cheese, a few ice cream sandwiches, and some other fun things to add to cocktails/mocktails.

One highlight for us of this year’s visit to Sitka was a short film we saw called Sitka’s Hidden Wonders. Ben Hamilton is the filmmaker, and we got to meet and chat with him for a while before and after the film. This film is 40 minutes long and SO rich with amazing photography and wildlife and we VERY HIGHLY recommend it.

We had dinner twice at The Channel Club (great both times), and got to check out a new grocery store — Sea Mart. Quite a bit better selection than our usual near-the-harbor grocery store (which is still pretty good!), so that was fun. We’re all stocked up for our next 11 day leg!
We promise to up our game again soon with the photos!
Here are a few photos from DeAnne on Turnagain…several from the totem park:
