Vixen Inlet this morning was perfect. Super calm, clear skies, bright sun. We woke early but no one was in any hurry to leave this beautiful spot.

Brian from Evenstar (Fleming) took his drone up and got some great shots of us all at anchor.

On our way up to Thoms Place, some up ahead of us saw humpbacks tail-slapping near shore, and then a little later, Dog Star (behind us) spotted some orcas!

Today was a relatively short cruise (23nm) up to Thoms Place on Wrangell Island. We put out crab traps, and this time Kevin dropped one with the 360 camera inside, so fingers crossed we’ll get some exciting crab drama out of that.

Usually, when we pull up an empty crab trap, the natural assumption is “Well, nothing going on down there.” But with our Crab Trap Cam, we can see that there is often a lot of drama behind the scenes before that “empty trap” is pulled up. Here’s one from today. (Warning, contains scenes that some viewers might find disturbing.)
We all did dinner on our own tonight and will meet up tomorrow in Wrangell!
