Airship | Ford’s Terror and Taku Harbor

Friday: We entered Ford’s Terror about 25 minutes after Juneau high tide with about 3kts of current still flooding, pushing us in a little faster through as we dodged small icebergs that had entered with the flood. We anchored near where we usually do and started on dinner. We skewered and grilled up the spot prawns we’d caught that morning at Windham Bay and served them with a side of … Read more

Day 34 | Flotilla to Alaska | Taku Harbor to Tracy Arm Cove

We had a short cruise today, just 25nm from Taku Harbor to Tracy Arm Cove. The morning dawned foggy, but with very low tides predicted later in the morning, we had to vacate the dock or risk sitting in the mud. Thankfully, radar, chart plotters, and AIS make navigating in the fog relatively easy, especially when there’s as little traffic as there is here. We only deviated from our course … Read more

Day 33 | Flotilla to Alaska | Couverden Island Cove to Taku Harbor

Thankfully, within just a few miles, we crossed a tide line and the conditions improved dramatically! Today’s cruise was uneventful and a bit of a blur. … Read more

Day 33 | Flotilla to Alaska | Ford’s Terror to Taku Harbor

Airship went through first and only noted about a knot and a half of opposing current, so the rest … Read more

Airship | Juneau, Taku Harbor, and Tracy Arm

We left Juneau on July 2nd, buddy boating with Carol and Park (on Akeeva), Jan and Stacy (on Ceci Kay) and a new passenger on Airship…Kevin’s mom, Shirley! We all found room on the dock at Taku Harbor and did a little exploring on shore. Dinner was a potluck on Ceci Kay (steaks, roasted potatoes, and more good stuff I can’t remember), and the next morning we all headed out … Read more
